Company History
I came up with the idea for Blue Spruce Inventory while working as a dispatcher for the Englewood Police Department. One of my duties is to enter stolen item information into a statewide and nationwide computer system. This includes entering the make, model, serial number and other identifying information on stolen items.
There have been more than a couple times that a crime victim didn’t know the information needed to enter their stolen items into the system. There have also been many times a suspect is contacted with stolen items, but since those items aren’t entered in the system the police are unable to prove they are stolen.
This started me thinking, “Wouldn’t it be nice if more people knew the makes, models and serial numbers of their property? Then we could arrest more criminals and get stolen property back to the owners.”
After researching home inventories, I found that a home inventory could help people with more than just police reports. A home inventory allows people to take better advantage of their homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, prepare a will, or get ready for a yard or estate sale.
I started Blue Spruce Inventory to help people become better prepared in case of loss or theft. I aim to help by providing my home inventory service and by becoming involved in public education.
