The Currency of Trust

trust

I was concerned when I first started this business because, as an adult, I haven’t had a job where I dealt with money. My last job where I handled money was in high school, over 10 years ago. How was I going to start and run my own business without experience in handling money?

I have worked earning a much more important currency, the currency of trust. Out of high school, I joined the Marine Corps and worked as a computer support specialist. I didn’t work with money, but I was trusted with access to confidential files. When I came home, I worked as an after-hours security guard to get through college. I worked with almost no supervision and was trusted by my security company to keep and earn the trust of their clients. After that, I found my current job as a dispatcher for a police department. Police departments don’t have to find clients or work harder to beat their competition.

A city police department has a monopoly on all police services in their city. If you are the victim of a crime in Denver, Colorado then you have to report it to the Denver Police! You don’t get to shop around for the best service. However, police departments still have to make sure they have good customer service and perform to the best of their abilities because they don’t work to earn your money, they work to earn your trust.

Earning trust is a lot more important, and a lot harder, than earning money. With Blue Spruce Inventory, I’m more concerned with earning your trust and that allows me to create a good product and service because I know what it takes to keep and earn your trust.
